HOW THE LOAN WORKS

As a socially oriented microfinance fund, Fishing Rod empowers entrepreneurs committed to creating meaningful social change in marginalized communities.

Fishing Rod is a grassroots-based fund that provides small-scale loans to socially conscious entrepreneurs. Loans will be provided to the social enterprises with no interest repayments, and the repayment system will be catered to the individual with local experts guiding the expected monthly payment from each beneficiary.

As opposed to the traditional monetary interest rate, each social enterprise will be expected to have a "social interest rate." This means that every month, in addition to the repayment of the loan, the enterprise will provide a "social interest rate," or proof of the impact the enterprise had during the given month, which will take the place of an economic, or monetary, interest.

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE

Providing comprehensive guidance to create truly sustainable social enterprises

Fishing Rod was created to provide and share economic, social, and intellectual capital with leaders interested in empowering local communities with preference given to those working with or from marginalized groups. Indeed, what makes Fishing Rod different is the complete support the entrepreneurs receive. Each leader selected will receive a small loan, full scholarship for a license in entrepreneurship, a second opportunity for follow-up funding, and a team of local and international experts to aid them in the implementation of their social enterprise. All of these aids enable the entrepreneurs to receive comprehensive guidance in the implementation and growth of their social enterprise.
